Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conduct assessments and discovery of clients’ legacy data sources, documenting data structures, dependencies, and quality issues.

• Execute data profiling to detect incomplete, duplicate, or inconsistent records prior to migration.

• Develop and implement ETL/ELT processes to transfer legacy data into Azure-based environments.

• Cleanse, normalize, and standardize datasets effectively.

• Coordinate the timing of data migration with application teams for production deployments and go-live events.

• Validate migrated data through reconciliation checks and feedback from stakeholders.

• Establish data quality checks, validation rules, and exception handling procedures.

• Assist in the creation of data governance artifacts, including definitions, standards, and transformation logic.

• Prepare curated datasets for analytics and reporting purposes, including Power BI dashboards.

• Facilitate data synchronization and API-driven data flows.

• Create and maintain technical documentation for data models, migration strategies, and quality controls.

• Contribute to monthly progress reports and other contractual deliverables.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen with Public Trust clearance.

• Over 5 years of experience in data engineering, data migration, or ETL development.

• Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational data structures.

• Skilled in cleansing, normalizing, and validating data.

• Background in supporting data migrations from legacy applications or databases.

• Capability to work independently and collaborate with application and analytics teams.

• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure data services, ideally within Azure Government Cloud (MAG).

• Familiarity with Microsoft Dataverse, including tables, relationships, and data modeling.

• Experience with Azure Data Factory and/or Synapse for ETL/ELT pipeline development.

• Preferred: Experience implementing API-based data sharing and integration patterns between systems.

• Preferred: Experience in supporting analytics or reporting projects (e.g., Power BI).

• Preferred: Knowledge of data governance principles in regulated or government sectors.

• Preferred: Experience migrating data from Mendix or other low-code/legacy platforms.
