Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.

📋 Description

• Create and sustain dependable data pipelines along with ETL/ELT workflows.

• Design and enhance data models for analytical purposes and internal applications.

• Collaborate with team members to provide clean and reliable datasets.

• Support essential data platform tools, including Spark and AWS services like S3, SNS, SQS, ECS/Fargate, and EMR.

• Oversee data pipelines for quality assurance, performance, and dependability.

• Produce clear documentation and contribute to test coverage and CI/CD processes.

• Assist in defining the data lakehouse architecture and platform development roadmap.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.

• 2–4 years of experience in data engineering or a backend data-centric role.

• Strong proficiency in Java, Scala, or another backend programming language.

• Proficient in Python (PySpark/pandas).

• Experience with SQL and distributed data systems such as Spark, Kafka, or SQS.

• Familiarity with NoSQL databases like Cassandra or HBase.

• Understanding of data modeling for analytics and reporting purposes.

• Proficient in English with excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain or demonstrate work to non-engineers.

• Self-motivated and capable of learning new technologies and frameworks with minimal guidance.

• Methodical in debugging and able to decompose complex problems into manageable tasks.

• Open to feedback and focused on iterative improvement through code reviews.

• Regular use of AI-assisted engineering tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor.

• Reliable internet connection for video, audio, and screen sharing.
