Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Design, construct, and sustain scalable data pipelines, models, and integrations.

• Ensure data is accurate, reliable, and prepared to enhance dashboards, reporting, analytics, and AI-driven solutions.

• Transform data into trusted, valuable assets that facilitate improved decision-making, innovative data products, and an exceptional student experience.

• Collaborate with Data Scientists, Analysts, Developers, and business teams.

• Address complex data challenges and continually enhance the University's data capabilities.

• Assist in establishing data foundations that support Arden University's digital and AI transformation and ongoing growth.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and/or SQL.

• Strong grasp of data modeling techniques, including dimensional modeling, Medallion architecture, and Lakehouse design patterns.

• Practical experience with modern cloud data platforms like Azure Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, or similar.

• Familiarity with Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric Data Factory, or Apache Airflow.

• Knowledge of version control systems such as Git.

• Experience in Agile delivery environments, including Scrum or Kanban.

• Experience in contributing to or implementing CI/CD pipelines for data and software delivery.

• Understanding of data quality testing, monitoring, and observability practices.

• Strong data literacy and the ability to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.

• Excellent communication skills with the capability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

• Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or ChatGPT.

• Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs) and their practical application in data engineering.

• Experience with Microsoft Azure data and analytics tools.

• Proficiency in using Power BI or other data visualization and BI tools.

• Formal Data & Analytics qualification, e.g., Certified Analytics Professional (CAP) or Azure Data Engineer/Scientist Associate (desirable).

• Understanding of machine learning algorithms and data science techniques (desirable).

• Exposure to Agentic AI concepts and AI agent frameworks (desirable).

• Must have the right to work in the UK or be eligible through an alternative visa route; Arden cannot sponsor a Skilled Worker visa for this role.
