Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and enhance data platforms and solutions across various projects.

• Contribute to different phases of the data solution lifecycle.

• Ensure that solutions adhere to standards of scalability, security, resilience, performance, quality, and governance.

• Craft data-driven architectures that provide value and insights.

• Develop concepts throughout the solution lifecycle while factoring in scalability, optimization, and cost considerations.

• Supervise the ingestion, transformation, modeling, and integration processes for external-facing projects.

• Collect client requirements in collaboration with cross-functional data teams.

• Assist Data Analysts and Data Scientists with feature engineering and large-scale data analysis.

• Work alongside project managers, architects, and technical teams to incorporate data solutions into broader digital ecosystems.

• Implement data engineering best practices, which include code quality, testing, CI/CD, and documentation.

• Manage metadata, access controls, data lineage, PII protection, and compliance with regulations.

• Create monitoring and alerting strategies to ensure availability, performance, and reliability.

• Diagnose complex issues related to infrastructure, data solutions, and analytical products.

• Investigate cloud capabilities, data platforms, and modern data stack tools.

• Promote knowledge-sharing, standardization, and collaborative practices within the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• Advanced proficiency in at least one programming language commonly utilized in data engineering; Python is preferred, with Scala, Java, or C# being advantageous.

• Strong SQL expertise.

• Comprehensive understanding of relational databases, non-relational stores, and principles of data warehousing.

• Experience with data modeling methodologies, including dimensional modeling, star/snowflake schemas, and data vault.

• Proven experience in designing and managing ETL/ELT pipelines.

• Familiarity with modern workflow orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Functions.

• Professional experience in delivering cloud-based data engineering solutions at scale.

• Capability to fulfill UK security clearance requirements.

• Strong skills in client-facing roles, stakeholder management, communication, and collaboration.
