Data Center Project Manager

📋 Description

• Supervise the scope of work for Carrier in data center construction projects

• Lead the startup, commissioning, and field modification activities for Carrier's air- and water-cooled chillers in newly built data centers

• Create and oversee comprehensive project plans, ensuring adherence to schedules and budgets

• Monitor project success by tracking and reviewing key performance indicators (KPIs)

• Conduct progress meetings with stakeholders to discuss design, material delivery, and labor timelines

• Ensure that projects achieve or surpass the targeted profit margin objectives

• Order and monitor the delivery of chiller components necessary for warranty fulfillment

• Collaborate with sales teams, prime contractors, and end-users to meet project scope and deliverable requirements

• Act as the primary liaison for Carrier between customers, commissioning authorities, general contractors, and subcontractors

• Address customer inquiries and concerns in a professional and timely manner

• Interpret and apply mechanical, electrical, and architectural drawings with accuracy

• Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and project specifications

• Utilize knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS) integration to ensure effective control functionalities

• Manage change orders, mitigate scope creep, and uphold project integrity

• Forecast monthly revenue by estimating costs for project completion

• Oversee project documentation, including warranty processing and information generated by the factory

• Collaborate with the Service Engineering team for enhanced project outcomes

• Uphold strict job safety standards across all projects


⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)

• Over 5 years of experience in project management coordinating schedules, deliverables, and activities involving various stakeholders, contractors, vendors, and/or customers; OR a minimum of 4 years of experience in mechanical, electrical, controls, commissioning, construction, or field service projects

• At least 2 years of experience in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical documents for mechanical systems

• Willingness and ability to travel up to 60% within the USA as required by business needs

• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering; or a Master’s degree/MBA

• Preferred experience in the data center industry with water- or air-cooled chillers

• Preferred expertise in commercial HVAC systems, including centrifugal chillers, Cooling Distribution Unit systems, and airside equipment

• Preferred Project Management Professional certification

• Preferred certification in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design or experience with Building Automation Systems

• Strong ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills suitable for both technical and non-technical audiences

• Demonstrated strategic thinking and problem-solving skills

• Strong capability to establish rapport and trust with customers through attentive listening and effective solutions
