This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Take charge of the data center sector within the designated geographic area of Capital Electric.
• Identify, monitor, and map data center projects 12–36 months in advance of bidding.
• Create and maintain a real-time project pipeline database that includes project stakeholders, timelines, sizes, and supplier details.
• Foster relationships with data center owners, developers, operators, procurement teams, engineering firms, contractors, and key influencers.
• Position Sonepar/Capital Electric during the design and specification stages through lunch & learns, spec-in support, value-engineering collaboration, and preferred distributor agreements.
• Facilitate communication between end-users/owners and regional and local branch networks for smooth project transitions and execution.
• Collaborate with executive and regional leadership, local branches, and the Sonepar DataCenter Business Development Team.
• Conduct regular project evaluations and strategy meetings.
• Attend prominent industry events to broaden the network and gather insights.
• Meet quarterly and annual goals for revenue, project acquisition, and pipeline development.
• 5–7+ years of experience in B2B sales or business development within electrical distribution, mission-critical power, data centers, or related construction sectors.
• A proven history of acquiring new business and establishing relationships at the C-suite and procurement level with hyperscale/colocation owners is highly preferred.
• An established network within the data center ecosystem in the target region is a notable advantage.
• Solid understanding of data center power infrastructure, including MV switchgear, transformers, PDU/RPP, UPS, generators, and busway.
• Familiarity with data center design/build processes.
• Proficient in utilizing project intelligence platforms such as Dodge, ConstructConnect, Industrial Info Resource, and DataCenterKnowledge.
• Experience with CRM systems, including SPARK.
• Exceptional organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
• Comfortable working remotely with regular travel of 30–50% throughout the territory.
• Willingness to travel 40–50% across the United States.
• A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not mandatory if relevant industry experience is present.
