This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop and sustain Python machine learning code.
• Investigate, prototype, and create innovative materials-aware machine learning models and features.
• Work collaboratively with fellow engineers, regularly assessing code and best practices.
• Provide mentorship to other developers.
• Architect high-performance, scalable machine learning systems.
• Evaluate and analyze the performance and impact of models.
• Engage in a multifunctional team from concept to delivery on various features.
• Enhance and uphold core Python libraries that facilitate machine learning for materials science challenges at an industrial scale.
• Partner with the Product team to define AI capabilities and support customer applications.
• Enhance the interpretability of machine learning models and create user communication tools.
• Advance inverse design capabilities for intricate materials synthesis parameter spaces.
• Collaborate with the External Research and Development team to write and publish research papers.
• Innovate new techniques to assess uncertainty in machine learning predictions.
• Over 8 years of professional experience or 3+ years with a Master’s or PhD in a quantitative field.
• Expertise in a programming language such as Python or Scala.
• Demonstrated success in implementing AI solutions for clients, yielding measurable results.
• Experience in addressing scientific challenges using computational methods.
• Ability to convey complex technical ideas and design decisions to diverse audiences.
• Comprehensive understanding of core machine learning algorithms and their design (e.g., random forests, neural networks).
• Proficient in writing tested, production-quality code.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Preferred: Background in Materials Science or relevant degree.
• Preferred: Extensive knowledge of statistical methods.
• Preferred: Familiarity with large language models (LLMs).
• Bonus: Experience with pre-trained or fine-tuned foundational models.
• Preferred: Proficiency in SQL and relational databases.
• Preferred: Experience with various AWS services (S3, RDS, SQS, etc.) in close integration.
• Preferred: Published research establishing expertise in AI/ML, NLP, or computer vision.
