Abuse Research Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Execute hypothesis-driven proactive threat hunting across Stripe's systems and external datasets.

• Examine adversary behaviors and intricate fraud vectors utilizing Stripe’s FT3 taxonomy.

• Integrate, curate, and automate threat intelligence feeds within engineering workflows.

• Convert research insights into threat advisories and strategic control recommendations.

• Simulate adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures through agentic automated testing frameworks.

• Validate implemented controls and create regression scenarios.

• Collaborate with teams in Fraud Ops, Strategy, Risk, Onboarding, Security, and Fraud Intelligence.

• Identify and systematically address product vulnerabilities.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in threat intelligence, threat hunting, or technical incident response in cybersecurity, product abuse, or trust domains.

• More than 5 years of experience analyzing extensive, complex datasets using data analytics tools to detect anomalies, map behavioral trends, and resolve intricate fraud issues.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

• Expert-level proficiency in Python and SQL, with proven experience in using coding and scripting to automate workflows, develop investigative tools, or query large data pipelines.

• Practical experience in log analysis, digital forensics, and cyber investigation techniques.

• Strong communication abilities, capable of translating complex technical research into actionable recommendations.

• Preferred: familiarity with financial-fraud threat actors and TTPs, FT3 or MITRE ATT&CK frameworks, Databricks, Trino, PySpark, Pandas, Scikit-Learn, TIPs, OSINT, breach intelligence, agentic LLM tools, automated testing, and relevant certifications.
