This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Croatia.
• Take charge of and define the backend data architecture along with dependable data pipelines that connect ERP systems, business applications, and the data platform.
• Lead the data engineering workstream, making key technical decisions for data architecture and ensuring platform reliability.
• Analyze data flows, dependencies, and interactions among systems within the Customer’s technology ecosystem.
• Partner with engineering and product teams to guarantee accurate data synchronization across various systems.
• Develop monitoring, alerting, and recovery systems to enhance pipeline reliability.
• Assist in revitalizing the company's analytics capabilities by facilitating high-quality and trustworthy data.
• Enhance the current data infrastructure while minimizing technical debt and boosting maintainability.
• Engage in Scrum ceremonies, which include sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to comprehend business requirements and transform them into scalable data solutions.
• Participate in code reviews, contribute to documentation, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assume responsibility for the overall quality, stability, and long-term evolution of the data platform.
• Work closely with the Software Architect to ensure that data and engineering strategies support one another and contribute to a stable system.
• Lead the data engineering workstream for a luxury retail client's e-commerce platform, including online storefronts, ERP integrations, data warehouse, and analytics capabilities.
• 7+ years of professional experience in designing, building, and maintaining production-grade data platforms and ETL pipelines.
• Establish clear data definitions and governance processes to create a high-performing data team that delivers high-quality data products.
• Possess expert-level SQL skills with a background in optimizing complex queries and managing large datasets.
• Hands-on experience in designing and operating reliable ETL/data synchronization pipelines, including monitoring, alerting, failure recovery, and operational excellence.
• Significant experience in schema design, performance optimization, and working with Snowflake and PostgreSQL databases.
• Professional experience with Java or Python codebases.
• Comfortable navigating limited documentation, taking ownership of ambiguous challenges, and making autonomous technical decisions.
• Excellent collaboration abilities for effective interaction with Engineering, Product, and other cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated capability to enhance existing systems while balancing technical debt, scalability, and business priorities.
• Experience in implementing or supporting BI and analytics platforms.
• Active involvement in hiring processes by serving on interview panels for prospective roles.
• Employment is contingent upon providing documentation that verifies legal work authorization in the country of residence.
• Nice-to-have: Experience in building or maintaining Kafka or other streaming data pipelines.
• Nice-to-have: Familiarity with Elasticsearch.
• Nice-to-have: Prior experience in e-commerce, ERP, or retail data domains.
