Data Analyst – Fraud

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kenya.

📋 Description

• Conduct investigations into fraud incidents, assess their impact, and deliver clear findings that inform prioritization and responses.

• Suggest and refine rule-based mitigations, collaborating with fraud operations and engineering to ensure successful implementation.

• Develop and maintain reporting tools and dashboards to track fraud patterns, rule efficacy, and essential operational metrics.

• Collaborate closely with fraud operations, data scientists, engineers, and product managers to translate analytical insights into actionable steps.

• Actively identify emerging trends and alert on risks before they escalate.


⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience as a Data Analyst (Fraud) or a comparable position (4+ years, with achievements that can compensate for time).

• Exceptional problem-solving capabilities.

• Advanced SQL skills; capable of crafting complex queries to analyze and dissect data from extensive datasets.

• Background in fraud, risk, or financial services; knowledgeable about the mechanics of fraud attacks and the considerations involved in mitigation trade-offs.

• A proactive attitude — you take initiative, identifying unusual patterns and investigating further without prompting.

• Some familiarity with Python or scripting for data manipulation and analysis.

• Proficient in using a BI tool (PowerBI, Looker, Tableau, Superset, Redash, or any comparable alternative).

• Strong skills in stakeholder management; able to clearly convey findings to fraud operations, product managers, engineers, and senior leadership, influencing decisions with data across all levels.

• Comfortable working in dynamic, cross-functional teams where priorities may change rapidly.

• Proficient with spreadsheet software (Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or any other alternative).

• Thrive in an autonomous and flat organizational structure, where every individual can make a significant impact given our millions of customers.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

• A strong desire to learn and master new technologies and methodologies.

• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
