Cybersecurity Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.

📋 Description

• Monitor and evaluate security alerts and incidents generated by diverse security tools and systems.

• Collaborate through various channels with users and administrators during investigations and incident response.

• Gather and assess raw events and alerts.

• Develop timelines related to adversarial activities or investigations.

• Offer feedback on alerts and incidents to enhance detection capabilities.

• Escalate tickets as necessary following established procedures.

• Classify and prioritize incidents according to defined criteria.

• Deliver professional-grade customer service.

• Record work details accurately in the ticketing system.

• Maintain knowledge of current products and swiftly learn associated technologies.

• Keep abreast of emerging news and industry best practices from credible sources and share insights.

• Participate in and contribute to regular team meetings.

⛳️ Requirements

• Willingness to work all schedules within a 24/7 SOC Environment.

• Work schedules include Sun-Wed and Wed-Sat with shifts of 7AM-5:30PM ET, 11AM-9:30PM ET, and 9PM-7:30AM ET.

• A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or a combination of education and work experience.

• Must obtain within one year and maintain at least one of the following certifications: Sec+, CySA+; other intermediate certifications will be considered.

• Prior completion of a related internship or relevant class projects that expose the applicant to the SOC environment.

• At least entry-level experience in incident investigations and responses.

• Capacity to work in an operational/shift-based environment with flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

• Proven experience in the security industry, with a solid understanding of best practices, risk mitigation, and compliance frameworks.

• Ability to operate effectively in high-pressure and high-stress situations.

• Legally eligible to work in the US, EU, or APAC regions as designated.

• Enthusiastic about cybersecurity and motivated to continue learning, developing relevant skill sets, and maintaining industry-specific certifications.

• Proficient at quickly finding answers using manuals and/or internet resources.

• Fluent in English in both written and spoken forms, including writing, reading, speaking, and comprehension.

• Capability to effectively communicate complex security concepts to end customers.
