Cybersecurity Practitioner – Paid Expert Interviews, SOC, Incident Response, Detection, AppSec

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Engage in two to three one-hour video discussions with the Mercor team over a period of approximately four weeks.

• Explore how enterprise cybersecurity operations are conducted, covering tools, workflows, and areas that require judgment.

• Clarify how teams assess triage, investigation, containment, threat hunting, detection rules, or patch quality.

• Highlight where AI assistance enhances or complicates current security operations.

• Offer insights on Mercor's preliminary AI cyber-defense task taxonomy, pointing out missing, mislabeled, or variably weighted tasks.

• Illustrate general trends without disclosing confidential information or specific incidents.

• No deliverables, labeling, or submissions are required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be a current or recently active practitioner in enterprise security.

• Applicable roles include SOC analysts and SOC leads (tier 2 and above).

• Experience in incident response and digital forensics is essential.

• Familiarity with detection engineering and threat hunting is required.

• Background in application security or product security engineering, specifically in identifying and resolving vulnerabilities in production code.

• Prior experience in managing or participating in a red team engagement is advantageous.

• Familiarity with EDR and SIEM solutions like CrowdStrike Falcon, Microsoft Defender and Sentinel, Splunk, SentinelOne, Elastic, or similar platforms is a plus.

• Security leaders are encouraged to apply if they remain closely aligned with the work.

• Candidates must reside in the United States.
