Cybersecurity Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +32 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee cybersecurity systems by adhering to established operating procedures, processes, and guidelines.

• Evaluate risks and recommend enhancements to procedures and controls.

• Ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the computing environment.

• Implement the Acceptable Use Policy.

• Engage in incident response/CIRT as directed.

• Apply security controls and offer guidance to team members.

• Monitor cybersecurity systems, solutions, and services; identify problems and suggest resolutions.

• Safeguard the confidentiality of investigations, incidents, and forensic reviews.

• Manage cybersecurity projects with minimal guidance and provide updates to management.

• Lead cybersecurity initiatives independently when necessary, including third-party security evaluations, DLP, proxies, risk and vulnerability identification, remote access requests, biomedical device assessments, and related projects.

• Deliver cybersecurity training and presentations to groups of fewer than 100 attendees.

• Handle sensitive information and collaborate with Privacy, Legal, and law enforcement as needed.

• Keep up-to-date with trends in cybersecurity regulations, technology, and operations.

• Respond promptly to customer inquiries.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent knowledge in Information Technology or a related field.

• 2-4 years of experience in cybersecurity.

• No specific licensure, registration, or certification is necessary.

• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, and PowerPoint.

• Experience with HIPAA, NIST CSF, PCI DSS, NIST (SP) 800-82r3, and related methodologies.

• Skilled in troubleshooting, reasoning, and problem-solving.

• Capable of working independently or collaboratively as part of a team and supporting colleagues.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities with minimal oversight.

• Technical experience with SIEM, vulnerability scanners, firewalls, VPNs, proxies, secure email gateways, EDR, DLP, Exact Data Matching, medical device management, OT/IoT solutions, and risk management platforms.

• Familiarity with SFTP, TLS, SSH, AES, and related security protocols and standards.

• No sponsorship or visa transfer is available.

• Willingness to provide callback support, travel to facilities, work evenings and weekends as needed, sit for extended periods, and lift/carry up to 40 pounds.
