Critical Care Registered Nurse

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Assist with the engagement of The Veterans Integrated Services Network 17 (VISN 17).

• Support current expanded operations and post-COVID initiatives to restore healthcare systems to pre-pandemic functionality.

• Provide nursing services at the Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System.

• Promote teamwork effectively as both a participant and a team leader.

• Utilize judgment and organizational skills in managing projects and prioritizing tasks.

• Engage in patient and family education and ensure accurate hand-off documentation.


⛳️ Requirements

• Obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited program recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

• Licensed Registered Nurse in Texas with current BLS and ACLS certifications.

• Evaluate the physiological and psychological health status of patients.

• Develop and execute a nursing care plan based on the health data provided by the patient.

• Create a care plan outlining nursing actions to meet patient goals while coordinating and organizing nursing activities.

• Collaborate with team members, including other disciplines, to address patient care needs.

• Administer medications and solutions as prescribed, demonstrating competence in drug administration and titration per ACLS protocol.

• Continuously monitor the patient's physiological status during their stay.

• Comply with universal protocol.

• Execute nursing actions that reflect accountability.

• Involve in patient and family education.

• Ensure accurate hand-off documentation.

• Exhibit skills and documentation in Critical Care: complete assigned tasks safely and accurately while documenting care in a timely manner.

• Collect lab specimens, including blood cultures, in accordance with hospital policy.

• Insert Foley catheters.

• Establish peripheral IV access while adhering to aseptic techniques.

• Perform 12-lead EKGs.

• Show safe and proper use of equipment, including bladder scanners, mechanical ventilators, IV infusion pumps, Accu-checks, Zoll defibrillators, crash carts, bedside and central monitors, and Propac transport monitors.

• Maintain performance metrics in the ER, including EKG, Troponin, Pneumonia Protocol, and turnaround time.

• Provide care for patients who are medically or surgically unstable.
