This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nigeria.
• Oversee VALR’s market entry and operational activities in Nigeria in accordance with the group strategy.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory standards while fostering relationships with the Central Bank of Nigeria and other regulatory bodies.
• Recruit and lead a local team in Nigeria.
• Formulate and implement a regional growth strategy focused on user acquisition, strategic alliances, and product adaptation.
• Oversee Nigeria’s profit and loss, budgeting, and financial results.
• Establish and nurture partnerships with banks, payment processors, fintech companies, and local institutions.
• Act as the representative of VALR with regulators, partners, media, and industry stakeholders, including participation in industry events.
• Collaborate with global teams across Compliance, Product, Legal, and Marketing departments.
• Track market trends in Nigeria, competitor movements, and regulatory changes to identify potential risks and opportunities.
• At least 8 years of experience in financial services, fintech, payments, or cryptocurrency, including a minimum of 3 years in a senior leadership position.
• In-depth understanding of the Nigerian financial and regulatory landscape, including payments, AML/KYC, and applicable Central Bank of Nigeria regulations.
• Demonstrated experience managing Profit and Loss and driving commercial expansion within a regulated environment.
• Established connections with regulators, banks, payment providers, and essential ecosystem partners in Nigeria.
• Proven track record in building teams and operational frameworks from the ground up, with the capability to establish and expand local operations.
• Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Law, or a similar field; a postgraduate qualification is an asset.
• Proficiency in English is mandatory.
• Ability to communicate in relevant local languages is a plus.
