Counsel, Commercial and Strategic Initiatives

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Provide counsel on various legal and regulatory issues, encompassing data privacy, the implementation of artificial intelligence, and dispute resolution.

• Collaborate with departmental leadership to synchronize legal strategies with business goals.

• Act as a key liaison between functional teams and the legal department.

• Work alongside legal operations leaders to enhance workflows and improve automated systems.

• Update guidance materials and develop scalable procedures.

• Offer practical, solution-focused advice on everyday operational questions.

• Tackle unforeseen challenges with an emphasis on risk reduction and growth opportunities.

• Prepare, review, and negotiate technology agreements, vendor contracts, professional services agreements, and strategic partnership contracts.

• Partner with finance, technology, and operations groups to arrange vendor partnerships.

• Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• J.D. degree from an accredited law school.

• Active bar membership in good standing.

• Over 4 years of pertinent legal experience in firm, in-house, or hybrid settings.

• At least 1 year of in-house experience is preferred.

• Experience in consumer financial services, fintech, mortgage lending, or similarly regulated consumer-facing sectors is strongly desired.

• Demonstrated expertise in structuring, drafting, and negotiating commercial agreements and technology contracts, including NDAs, SOWs, DPAs, SaaS agreements, vendor contracts, and MSAs.

• Strong enthusiasm for engaging with AI, privacy, litigation, and legal operations.

• Business-oriented perspective on legal matters and the ability to thoughtfully assess risk.

• Sound judgment and assuredness in decision-making.

• Comfortable communicating directly with senior leadership.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to simplify complex concepts into clear, understandable language.

• Comfort with ambiguity, strong organizational skills, self-motivation, and a collaborative mindset.
