Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor – Data Center Construction

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Carolina.

📋 Description

• Provide guidance to clients on procurement strategies and oversee vendor prequalification processes.

• Evaluate proposals, bids, and bid leveling documentation; offer recommendations and assist in contract awards.

• Oversee estimating services throughout the entire project lifecycle.

• Create construction estimates, review estimates from junior team members, and present estimates and cost plans to clients.

• Conduct benchmark analyses and offer value engineering recommendations along with risk assessments.

• Review, validate, and scrutinize project costs and commercial assumptions in collaboration with contractors, consultants, and vendors.

• Set up cost reporting schedules and prepare as well as present cost reports and forecasts.

• Analyze project budgets and spending forecasts while maintaining commercial risk registers.

• Facilitate project cost reviews and oversee cost control processes.

• Review payment applications, assess contractor entitlements, evaluate change orders, and provide commercial recommendations.

• Assist with contract administration and dispute prevention.

• Manage and oversee project invoicing processes.

• Benchmark project performance against historical data and comparable projects.

• Oversee final account negotiations, post-contract audits, and project closeout activities.

• Conduct lessons learned reviews and support the implementation of best practices.

• Develop procedures for project handover and closeout activities.

• Utilize cost estimating software, takeoff software, bid analysis tools, and change management documentation.

• Collaborate with project managers, designers, contractors, vendors, and client stakeholders.

• Adhere to SOX control responsibilities when applicable.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Cost Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related field in construction.

• A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in cost management, quantity surveying, estimating, or commercial management within the construction sector.

• Experience in supporting medium to large-scale construction projects.

• Preferred experience in data center, mission-critical, advanced technology, industrial, manufacturing, or other highly technical construction projects.

• RICS accreditation or progress towards accreditation is desirable.

• Strongly preferred experience in construction consultancy.

• Solid understanding of construction procurement methods, value engineering, cost planning, and commercial management practices.

• Experience in preparing estimates, managing budgets, reviewing change orders, and generating cost reports throughout the project lifecycle.

• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

• Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams.
