Corporate Counsel – Compliance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.

📋 Description

• Assist in the creation and management of ethics and compliance programs, policies, procedures, and training initiatives.

• Offer legal guidance and support to business and corporate teams throughout the U.S. and Canada regarding the Code of Conduct, policy governance, anti-bribery, antitrust, and various ethics and compliance issues.

• Collaborate with colleagues in the Legal Department in Latin America on regional compliance topics and other international projects.

• Conduct ethics and legal compliance training sessions, promote employee engagement and awareness campaigns, and nurture a culture of integrity and compliance.

• Contribute to the company’s enterprise risk self-assessment program, which includes facilitating regular risk self-assessments and aiding in compliance audits and assessments.

• Create, monitor, and communicate compliance and risk metrics.

• Oversee ethics and compliance integration activities related to mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and other strategic transactions.

• Manage and provide guidance on gifts/entertainment, political contributions, and other external activities.

• Stay informed on legal developments and best practices in ethics and compliance that impact Daikin’s operations in the U.S.

• Work in partnership with the legal team and business partners across the organization to align business goals with company values, the Code of Conduct, policies, and relevant laws.

• Collaborate effectively with Legal Department colleagues across Daikin Americas entities to harmonize approaches, policies, and best practices.

• Anticipate, investigate, and communicate legal matters that could affect the company.

• Perform additional related duties as assigned or requested.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must possess a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in-house, at a law firm, or within a regulatory agency focusing on ethics and compliance.

• Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time.

• Prior experience in developing and managing compliance programs.

• Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of pre-employment requirements, including verification of employment history, education, background screening, and drug testing where permitted by law.

• Safety-sensitive positions may necessitate cannabis (marijuana) testing.
