This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
β’ Provide expert advice to the Company regarding federal, state, and local employment law issues.
β’ Offer legal counsel on matters related to harassment, discrimination, retaliation, whistleblowing, disability accommodations, leaves of absence, and workplace investigations.
β’ Advise business leaders and Human Resources on compliance with wage and hour laws, which includes employee classification, overtime, meal and rest breaks, pay practices, and associated compliance matters.
β’ Counsel on restrictive covenant issues, encompassing noncompetition, nonsolicitation, confidentiality, and trade secret concerns.
β’ Assist in litigation strategies by collaborating with external counsel on employment claims, agency charges, class actions, and other employment-related disputes.
β’ Review, draft, and negotiate agreements, policies, and training materials related to employment.
β’ Keep abreast of changes in employment laws and regulations, providing practical compliance advice.
β’ Conduct legal training sessions for Human Resources and business leaders on developments in employment law and strategies for risk mitigation.
β’ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create business solutions that comply with legal standards while aligning with operational goals.
β’ Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
β’ Active membership in at least one state bar in the U.S.
β’ Extensive experience in employment law, ideally with a blend of law firm and in-house practice.
β’ Proven experience in advising on issues related to harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and whistleblower cases.
β’ Familiarity with wage and hour compliance and litigation, including state-specific employment regulations.
β’ Knowledge of restrictive covenants, including noncompetition, nonsolicitation, confidentiality, and trade secret matters.
β’ Experience in employment policies, workplace investigations, and accommodations.
β’ Background supporting staffing, contingent workforce, or multi-state employers is highly valued.
β’ Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
β’ Capacity to provide practical, business-focused legal advice.
β’ Experience managing outside counsel and employment litigation is preferred.
β’ Advising staffing agencies, temporary service employers, or entities with a multi-state workforce is strongly preferred.
β’ Understanding of joint employment, contingent workforce arrangements, and compliance across multiple jurisdictions is a considerable asset.
β’ Successful completion of a background check is mandatory for employment.
