Cook – Maritime Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Plan, prepare, and deliver nutritious and diverse meals for vessel personnel on a daily basis

• Address dietary restrictions, allergies, religious needs, and cultural aspects

• Ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and orderliness of the galley and food storage areas

• Safely handle, store, and prepare food and provisions

• Oversee galley inventories and coordinate the ordering of provisions and supplies with vessel leadership

• Foster cost-effective and efficient galley operations

• Adhere to food safety standards, vessel hygiene protocols, and safe work practices

• Identify and report unsafe conditions or malfunctioning equipment

• Participate in emergency drills, safety meetings, and vessel readiness activities

• Assist in the implementation of the vessel Safety Management System (SMS) and operational procedures

• Complete operational documentation, checklists, and risk assessments

• Utilize appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and advocate for safe work practices

• Promote positive morale and professionalism among vessel personnel

• Collaborate with deck, engineering, and support departments

• Undertake additional responsibilities to support vessel operations and mission objectives

• Maintain accountability and professionalism in galley operations without direct supervisory duties

⛳️ Requirements

• Valid Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) or maritime credentials as mandated by vessel operations

• Valid STCW Basic Training certification or equivalent maritime safety training

• Experience in supporting food service or galley operations aboard vessels or in operational settings

• Understanding of food safety, sanitation, and galley operations

• Capability to safely operate galley equipment and manage food inventories

• Ability to work rotational schedules in maritime environments

• Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork abilities

• U.S. citizenship is required

• Capacity to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance

• Capability to lift, carry, and move food supplies and galley equipment

• Ability to support rotational or extended underway operations as necessary
