This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan, +2 more states.
• Oversee a team of project execution engineers within the Project Engineering Organization.
• Manage the daily tactical execution of projects.
• Evaluate and enhance team capabilities.
• Collaborate across engineering disciplines and departmental functions to ensure alignment across the project.
• Lead strategic initiatives in Project Engineering and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Take ownership of project performance and outcomes for the direct engineering team.
• Mentor and guide team members and projects.
• Ensure the quality of work, timely delivery, and adherence to budgetary targets.
• Report on project performance and status to management and colleagues.
• Maintain monthly project forecasting for assigned projects.
• Oversee direct project budgets and indirect departmental budgets.
• Provide input for annual budgets regarding staffing and indirect expenditures.
• Attend project turnover meetings to assess technical, cost, and scheduling risks.
• Make staffing decisions for projects and manage contributor utilization.
• Participate in pre-sale technical evaluations with Sales and Solution Development teams.
• Recruit, onboard, integrate, develop, assess, coach, and mentor team members.
• Ensure team integrity, communication, collaboration, safety, and adherence to policies.
• Foster relationships across offices and departments.
• Enhance team engagement and visibility with Dematic and its customers.
• Maintain feedback loops for lessons learned and project variances with Solution Development.
• Promote and facilitate Continuous Improvement and Lean initiatives.
• Align team and individual objectives with strategic and engineering plans.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field.
• Minimum of five (5) years of proven experience in Engineering Management and/or leadership.
• At least eight (8) years of experience in the material handling and/or logistics automation industry or a related field is preferred.
• Capability to work independently and lead with minimal supervision in remote, office, and customer site environments.
• Familiarity with CAD design software, particularly AutoCAD, is advantageous.
• Understanding of PLCs, including Allen-Bradley and/or Rockwell, is a plus.
• Proven ability to solve complex problems and propose cost-effective solutions.
• Strong communication skills, with an emphasis on collaboration, flexibility, and a willingness to lead as part of a solution-oriented team.
• Demonstrated presentation skills, group facilitation, and the ability to effectively engage with customers.
• Excellent leadership, teamwork, influencing, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational, analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to perform under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain composure.
• Willingness to travel approximately 15-25% to customer or Dematic locations.
