This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +4 more states.
• Assist the VP of Operations and various Controllers/CFOs with inquiries related to accounting, financial reporting, month-end close management, advisory requests, and client communication.
• Oversee daily escalations of accounting questions and manage weekly client processes and procedures.
• Take ownership of month-end close timelines and guarantee the punctual delivery of financial statements and advisory deadlines.
• Engage with both internal and external stakeholders to foster relationships with growth-stage CEOs, developers, and general contractors.
• Conduct occasional in-person or virtual Financial Discovery Assessments for new client partnerships.
• Evaluate job costs and track budget-to-actual job performance alongside client project managers.
• Supervise monthly WIP schedules, recognize Percentage of Completion revenue, and calculate over/under billing, as well as manage AIA G702/G703 progress billings.
• Manage financials for multi-entity real estate development, including acquisition/disposition accounting, lender draw packages, development loan requisitions, capital stacks, and NNN/CAM reconciliations.
• Develop, monitor, and uphold accounting policies, internal controls, and maintain audit readiness.
• Oversee liquidity management through rolling cash flow forecasting, operating line-of-credit management, and coordination of capital calls/bank draws.
• Prepare annual budgets, project pro formas, and long-term forecasts.
• Generate month-end consolidated financial statement packages, board presentations, KPI dashboards, and variance explanations.
• Compile fixed asset depreciation, intercompany eliminations, payroll/benefit liabilities, sales/use tax, and certified payroll submissions.
• Coordinate documentation and manage relationships with external CPAs, auditors, bonding agents, and commercial lenders.
• Supervise, train, and mentor internal, client, and third-party accounting personnel.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience as a Controller, Director of Accounting, or Chief Accounting Officer in a private business setting.
• Specific experience in Construction and/or Real Estate Development is required.
• At least 8 years of experience with financial software.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks is mandatory.
• Experience with industry-specific platforms such as Sage Intacct / Sage 300 CRE, Procore, Yardi, CMiC, or Textura is highly preferred.
• Comprehensive understanding of WIP schedules, AIA billing, Percentage of Completion accounting, certified payroll, construction draw management, and multi-entity real estate consolidations.
• Excellent and professional communication skills across all virtual platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and oversee accounting processes across multiple concurrent client entities.
• Proficient in using cloud-based software, accounting programs, Excel, and Google Workspace.
• Proven history of effectively operating in a remote role prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.
• Commitment to confidentiality and discretion regarding sensitive client information.
• Accuracy in handling large volumes of complex transactions, job costs, and entity reconciliations.
• Active CPA or CCIFP designation is a significant advantage.
• Standard working hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the candidate's local time zone, with MST or PST preferred.
