This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.
• Take ownership of the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing procedures, which include journal entries, accruals, prepaids, payroll and benefits entries, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
• Ensure all supporting documentation is complete and well-organized, providing a clear audit trail for all accounting activities.
• Oversee the general ledger to guarantee the integrity and accuracy of both the income statement and balance sheet.
• Manage accounts payable directly, handling invoice processing, vendor setup, approvals, and weekly payment cycles.
• Supervise cash activities and offer insights into cash balances, forthcoming obligations, and working capital requirements.
• Collaborate with executive and functional leaders regarding accruals, commitments, and the requirements for period-end accounting.
• Oversee the accounting for inventory and cost of goods sold, which includes raw materials and finished products.
• Work alongside the Finance team on reporting, variance analysis, forecasting, and other financial evaluations.
• Maintain and enhance accounting policies, closing documentation, internal controls, and operational procedures.
• Identify chances to enhance, automate, and scale accounting processes.
• Assist with audit, tax, and other accounting and compliance needs as necessary.
• Lead the daily accounting operations and gradually build and manage the broader accounting function.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, featuring substantial ownership of the monthly closing process and general ledger management.
• Previous experience in roles such as Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or a similar hands-on accounting leadership position.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and experience overseeing both income statement and balance sheet accounting.
• Proven experience with accruals, prepaids, payroll and benefits accounting, accounts payable, cash management, and account reconciliations.
• Preferred experience with inventory and cost of goods accounting, including raw materials and finished goods.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel with the capability to manage large and complex data sets effectively.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify issues, understand their financial implications, and communicate key insights clearly to executive leadership.
• Proven ability to work independently, prioritize competing demands, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with QuickBooks, Ramp, Rippling, Stripe, or AWS QuickSight is beneficial but not mandatory.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• CPA certification is preferred but not essential.
