This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Manage daily accounting functions, which encompass accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, fixed assets, accruals, prepaids, and general ledger oversight.

• Lead the financial closing process on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

• Prepare financial statements along with supporting schedules.

• Take ownership of and enhance financial systems and the accounting technology stack, including ERP systems and their integrations.

• Supervise corporate income tax, sales/use tax, payroll tax, and all relevant federal, state, and local tax and licensing obligations with the assistance of external advisors.

• Create scalable processes, controls, and reporting frameworks for future fundraising, audit requirements, and potential international expansion.

• Collaborate with the CFO, executives, and cross-functional leaders to convert accounting and financial matters into business implications and actionable recommendations.

• Attract, recruit, develop, and retain the accounting team.

• Oversee the outsourced accounting firm.

• Act as a hands-on leader and mentor for the accounting team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a high-growth technology or SaaS environment.

• Demonstrated success in establishing accounting functions, systems, processes, and controls from the ground up and scaling them as the company expands.

• Strong technical accounting background with a comprehensive understanding of US GAAP.

• Exceptional analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

• Capability to function effectively in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and highly collaborative setting.

• Strong business acumen and the ability to blend strategic thought with practical execution.

• Experience collaborating cross-functionally with Legal, People, Operations, and executive leadership.

• Proven experience in hiring, developing, and managing an accounting team.

• Enthusiasm for establishing solid foundations and relationships that facilitate company growth.

• CPA or an equivalent accounting qualification (preferred).

• Experience in a venture-backed, Series B or later technology company (preferred).

• Familiarity with implementing an ERP and an extensive finance technology stack (preferred).

• Knowledge of revenue recognition for subscription or usage-based business models (preferred).

• Experience in supporting investor relations (preferred).

• Experience working with lean, distributed, and remote-first teams (preferred).

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer.

• Must reside in the United States or Canada.
