This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the complete general ledger along with month-end and year-end closure utilizing QuickBooks Online.
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepaid expenses, deferrals, and intercompany transactions.
• Ensure a precise and timely closing process within the established timeframe of 7–10 business days.
• Generate reporting packages for management and investors.
• Handle accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, expense management, corporate card programs, and bank reconciliations.
• Maintain the chart of accounts and adhere to GAAP-compliant accounting policies.
• Manage revenue recognition, royalties, revenue sharing, capitalized software/game development costs, and stock-based compensation.
• Monitor product recoupment and provide royalty statements to development partners.
• Account for debt instruments, warrants, debt amendments, and contingent consideration liabilities.
• Implement CECL for accounts receivable.
• Administer foreign currency transactions and recognize gains/losses.
• Design and uphold internal controls while supporting audit or review processes.
• Coordinate tax compliance, state registrations, and necessary filings.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Manage relationships with lenders and ensure covenant compliance reporting.
• Collaborate with the CFO and CEO on investor updates, cap table support, fundraising, M&A due diligence, quality of earnings, post-close integration, and structuring publishing deals.
• Assess and account for acquisitions in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Define, recruit, and hire the first direct report while building the accounting organization.
• Explore systems beyond QuickBooks as the company grows.
• CPA preferred; must have an active license in good standing.
• Over 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including roles in public accounting and within a high-growth company.
• Experience in Series A/B funding at a high-growth startup.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online.
• M&A experience, with at least one transaction, financial due diligence, quality of earnings, working capital adjustments, or post-close integration.
• Strong technical knowledge in accounting, including US GAAP, ASC 606 revenue recognition, capitalized software costs, and stock-based compensation.
• Experience in accounting for debt instruments, including OID, warrants, modifications, and the effective interest method.
• Knowledge of asset acquisition and business combination accounting.
• Familiarity with contingent consideration valuation and CECL methodology for accounts receivable.
• Ability to build, hire, mentor, and lead an accounting team.
• Exceptional communication skills for articulating accounting concepts to leadership, boards, and non-financial audiences.
• Preference for candidates located in the Pacific Time Zone.
• Previous experience in gaming, interactive entertainment, or digital media is advantageous.
• Familiarity with gaming revenue models is a plus.
• Experience in implementing or migrating to a mid-market ERP system is beneficial.
• Multi-entity or international accounting experience is a bonus.
