This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Oversee all accounting functions that support HHAD's corporate and development activities.
• Recruit, mentor, and nurture property and development accounting teams.
• Act as the primary accounting advisor to HHAD's Executive Leadership and collaborate with Harmony Housing's Corporate Accounting team.
• Assess project feasibility, profitability, capital structure, financial risks, and capital allocation strategies.
• Create and uphold accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, KPIs, closing calendars, and performance metrics.
• Drive accounting technology initiatives, enhance workflow automation, and improve scalability.
• Work with Corporate Accounting on monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting and closing processes.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow projections.
• Oversee cash management, deposits, disbursements, and bank reconciliations.
• Manage banking relationships, treasury services, and corporate credit facilities.
• Supervise intercompany accounting and Board reporting.
• Prepare financial analyses, executive dashboards, KPI reporting, profitability assessments, and financial models.
• Oversee project accounting, reconciliations, cost allocations, budget variances, construction funding, lender draws, equity installments, requisitions, retainage, sources and uses, construction budgets, and project cash management.
• Assist in development activities from pre-development through project closeout.
• Support acquisition, construction financing, and permanent financing closings.
• Maintain developer fee schedules, revenue recognition, deferred developer fee tracking, and project closeout accounting.
• Ensure the integration of acquired or developed properties into accounting and reporting frameworks while adhering to GAAP and tax credit accounting compliance.
• Serve as a liaison with investors, lenders, syndicators, and public agencies regarding accounting and regulatory reporting.
• Coordinate LIHTC cost certifications, IRS Form 8609 issuance, partnership accounting, capital contributions, distributions, and year-end partnership reporting.
• Review financing and closing documents and monitor compliance with loan covenants.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• Master’s degree is preferred.
• CPA is strongly preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least five years in a leadership position.
• Extensive background in affordable housing development, LIHTC partnerships, treasury management, multi-entity accounting, construction accounting, and project financing.
• Experience dealing with complex capital structures, including LIHTC equity, tax-exempt bonds, HOME, CDBG, USDA, HUD, State and local financing, soft debt, and deferred developer fees.
• Proficiency in construction accounting, job cost tracking, construction draw processes, and development/project financing structures is essential.
• Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with accounting software are required.
• Demonstrated capability to lead and develop high-performing accounting professionals.
• Executive presence and the ability to convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple complex developments in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven track record of prioritizing competing deadlines while ensuring exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.

• Strong analytical and strategic problem-solving skills.
• Ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
