This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close calendar, overseeing task assignments, reviews, and timely completion.

• Prepare and examine journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.

• Generate monthly financial statements for each legal entity and consolidated results, including variance analysis against the budget and prior periods.

• Provide a reviewed close package to the Vice President of Finance within the agreed timeframe post month-end.

• Manage the chart of accounts, entity structure in the general ledger, and departmental as well as site-level reporting segments.

• Design, document, and uphold internal controls related to financial reporting.

• Maintain comprehensive written accounting policies and procedures.

• Investigate and document technical accounting positions in accordance with GAAP, such as revenue recognition, leases, and provider compensation accruals.

• Identify control deficiencies and reporting risks, offering remediation suggestions to the Vice President of Finance.

• Coordinate the annual financial audit or review, including managing the PBC list, schedules, and responding to auditor inquiries.

• Collaborate with external tax advisors to coordinate federal, state, and local tax filings.

• Maintain schedules and related disclosures for fixed assets, leases, and debt.

• Ensure compliance with laws and regulations impacting financial operations.

• Supervise accounts payable, vendor onboarding, expense reimbursements, and corporate card reviews.

• Conduct and review daily and weekly cash reconciliations, aiding in short-term cash forecasting.

• Manage payroll accounting, including journal entries, accruals, multi-entity allocations, and reconciliations.

• Work with Billing and Reimbursement on cash receipts, patient refunds, and allowance and reserve estimates.

• Assist in the annual budget and periodic reforecasts led by the Vice President of Finance.

• Develop and maintain financial models and conduct ad hoc analyses.

• Collaborate with the FP&A Manager to reconcile operational reporting with financial results.

• Oversee the accounting system of record and its integrations.

• Extract and verify payroll and headcount data from Rippling.

• Reconcile financial data obtained from AdvancedMD.

• Identify and implement process automation to expedite the close and minimize manual handling.

• Report to the Vice President of Finance while collaborating with Billing and Reimbursement, Operations, People, and site leadership.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

• At least 6 years of progressive accounting experience, including a minimum of 2 years managing a full-cycle month-end close.

• Proven experience in preparing financial statements in compliance with GAAP.

• Experience in designing and sustaining internal controls in a multi-entity or multi-site setting.

• Advanced proficiency in Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and model creation.

• Experience in coordinating an external audit or review process.

• CPA designation or CPA candidate status preferred.

• Preferred experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or multi-site professional services.

• Prior supervisory experience over accounting personnel is preferred.

• Experience with payroll accounting in a complex multi-job-code environment is preferred.

• Experience with accounting system conversions or redesigning close processes is preferred.

• Ability to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, particularly those related to Illinois privacy and data security.

• Strong communication skills, capable of interacting professionally with leadership, team members, and external partners.

• Proficient in utilizing accounting, payroll, and reporting systems effectively.

• Leadership qualities, including setting expectations, reviewing work, developing staff, and managing performance.

• Ability to communicate effectively, with skills in talking, hearing, and engaging with others; frequently standing, walking, sitting, and using a keyboard; occasionally lifting or moving up to 25 pounds.
