This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Oversee all accounting functions as a vital strategic collaborator with the VP of Finance & Operations
• Manage complete accounting cycle
• Guide and support the payroll and accounting team
• Take charge of month-end, quarter-end, and annual closing processes
• Provide timely and precise consolidated financial statements, reconciliations, and variance analyses
• Develop consolidated three-statement financial models
• Offer ad hoc FP&A assistance for executive decision-making
• Supervise QuickBooks financial system administration, Enspire ERP integration, and credit card programs
• Lead annual audits and serve as the primary liaison for the external audit team
• Aid in preparing tax schedules and annual filings
• Manage SR&ED claims along with Canadian and U.S. state tax and regulatory compliance
• Direct rolling 13-week cash forecasts, optimize AP/AR processes, manage AR aging, coordinate payroll, and ensure compliance with debt schedules and covenants
• Guide, mentor, and promote growth within the payroll and accounting team
• Facilitate post-close financial integration for acquired entities
• Implement efficient month-end closing processes within 6 business days
• Address legacy internal control deficiencies
• Create sustainable solutions for cross-border U.S./Canada tax exposures
• Optimize working capital and keep AR aging below 8%
• Minimum of 7 years of accounting/finance experience
• 3–5 years in a Controller or senior accounting management position
• Proven experience leading teams while carrying out hands-on technical accounting tasks
• Extensive knowledge of GAAP compliance
• Familiarity with internal controls, including the COSO framework
• Experience with full closing processes
• Proficiency in financial reporting platforms
• Advanced skills in Excel
• Background in cash flow and treasury management
• Demonstrated success in managing external audits
• Knowledge of Canadian HST/GST
• Experience with U.S. state tax compliance in collaboration with external advisors
• CPA designation (CA, CMA, or equivalent) is preferred
• Familiarity with QuickBooks or similar accounting software is an advantage
• Background in M&A post-close accounting is beneficial
• Experience managing SR&ED claims is advantageous
• Ability to work Monday–Friday, 9:00 am–5:00 pm ET, with occasional overtime during month-end and year-end closing cycles
