This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Take full ownership of the accounting function, ensuring financial integrity, accurate reporting, and operational discipline.

• Collaborate with the Head of Finance to develop scalable processes that support retail growth.

• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, delivering timely preliminary and final reports.

• Prepare financial statements in compliance with GAAP and maintain documentation that is ready for audits.

• Oversee balance-sheet reconciliations, accruals, reserves, account substantiation, and provide financial statement support.

• Coordinate with external auditors and manage tax obligations.

• Handle inventory accounting, including standard costs, landed costs, manufacturing variances, SKU-level COGS, inventory in transit, shrinkage, obsolescence, reserves, and write-offs.

• Reconcile inventory across the general ledger, NetSuite, third-party logistics providers, retailers, and internal schedules.

• Manage revenue accounting and settlement reconciliation for channels such as Shopify, TikTok Shop, Amazon, Walmart, wholesale, and others.

• Supervise accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash reporting, cash-flow forecasting, collections, vendor payment controls, and working capital management.

• Collaborate on the implementation, optimization, and maintenance of NetSuite, enhancing financial-system integrations.

• Establish internal controls, accounting policies, standard operating procedures, approval matrices, and compliance processes.

• Lead, develop, and hold the accounting team accountable for their performance.

• Act as a cross-functional partner to Finance, Supply Chain, Commercialization, E-Commerce, Customer Experience, and Operations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.

• 8-12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including responsibilities at the Controller or Assistant Controller level.

• Proven experience managing a complete monthly close and preparing GAAP-compliant financial statements.

• Extensive experience in inventory, cost accounting, landed costs, COGS, gross margin, and inventory reconciliations.

• Background in direct-to-consumer, retail, wholesale, marketplace, and multichannel revenue accounting.

• Experience in consumer packaged goods, beauty, retail, or other inventory-intensive industries.

• Strong understanding of internal controls, revenue recognition, gross-to-net accounting, and working capital management.

• Advanced skills in Excel and strong judgment in financial systems.

• Proven track record managing and developing accounting professionals.

• CPA is highly preferred.

• Experience with NetSuite implementation, optimization, or administration is strongly preferred.

• Familiarity with supporting external audits is preferred.

• A hands-on operator capable of executing and building processes.

• Comfortable working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.

• Strong skills in cross-functional partnership.
