This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the monthly closing process for a designated portfolio, ensuring accurate book closings within two to ten business days post month-end.

• Review and approve close files, reconciliations, and working papers prepared by accountants and bookkeepers.

• Uphold and implement audit-ready accounting standards and working-paper templates.

• Manage accrual postings and exercise professional judgment when dealing with incomplete information.

• Lead P&L variance analyses across Shopify, Amazon, Wholesale, and various expense accounts.

• Investigate any unusual balances, unrealized foreign exchange gains/losses, and items that deviate from expected trends.

• Collaborate with tax accountants and CPA firms on year-end adjusting entries.

• Supervise weekly bookkeeping quality and engage in hands-on transaction categorization as necessary.

• Design, create, and modify charts of accounts in Xero, QuickBooks Online, and other accounting platforms.

• Administer multi-currency accounting, foreign exchange revaluations, unrealized gains/losses, and cross-currency reconciliations.

• Reconcile eCommerce integrations such as Shopify and Amazon to the general ledger.

• Oversee accounts receivable and payable, including invoices, payments, manual journals, and credit memos.

• Manage inventory reconciliations and year-end inventory adjustments.

• Maintain consolidated budgets and reporting templates comparing actuals versus budget.

• Troubleshoot complex accounting issues for both the team and clients.

• Act as the senior accounting contact for assigned clients and Fractional CFOs.

• Address client inquiries and participate in client calls, preparing and distributing recap notes and action items.

• Communicate outstanding items, open questions, and risks to stakeholders effectively.

• Ensure the timely delivery of financial reports, working files, and supporting schedules.

• Keep regulatory filings up to date, including sales tax, payroll, and corporate filings.

• Research tax obligations and escalate findings as necessary.

• Prepare and present weekly flash reports and monthly financial packages.

• Review the work of bookkeepers and accountants, provide constructive feedback, mentor team members, and drive process enhancements.

• Participate in team L10 meetings and identify blockers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in bookkeeping and/or accounting, with at least 2 years in a Controller, Senior, or similar oversight capacity.

• Strong proficiency in Xero is required.

• Experience with QuickBooks Online is highly preferred.

• Demonstrated experience in eCommerce accounting, including familiarity with Shopify, Amazon Seller/Vendor platforms, and multi-currency environments.

• Solid grasp of accrual-basis accounting concepts, including prepaids, accruals, deferred revenue, and foreign exchange revaluation.

• Proven track record of reviewing others’ work and ensuring the quality and accuracy of the financial close.

• Capability to investigate and clarify financial anomalies using independent judgment and structured reasoning.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English; comfortable conducting direct correspondence with clients.

• Self-driven and highly organized, capable of managing multiple clients, deadlines, and team members simultaneously.

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with evolving processes and occasional ambiguity.

• High attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy.

• Available to work from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM PST / 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM EST, Monday to Friday, with some flexibility to accommodate client needs.

• CPA or CA qualification (from India, US, Canada, or UK) is highly preferred.

• Experience with Hubdoc, Dext, or Rippling is a plus.

• Previous experience in public practice or audit is desired.
