This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Oversee intricate contract negotiations and deliver strategic contractual guidance across a varied project portfolio.

• Offer contractual and commercial leadership throughout projects and business operations.

• Manage contract review responsibilities and provide advice to stakeholders on contractual issues.

• Promote best-practice contract management while supporting commercial objectives and minimizing risks.

• Lead contract professionals and enhance stakeholder relationships in collaboration with the Head of Contracts.

• Serve as a trusted advisor on contract law and commercial governance.

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, clients, and suppliers to ensure successful project execution.

• Direct contract management tasks and influence commercial decision-making with considerable autonomy.

• Review contract qualifications to maintain an appropriate risk balance.

• Provide senior management and execution teams with overviews of contract terms and conditions.

• Advise businesses on client contracting and negotiation tactics.

• Manage commercial deliverables such as bonds, PCGs, and insurance evidence.

• Prepare, negotiate, establish, and manage joint venture and partnering agreements.

• Identify strategies to prevent or mitigate risks arising from contract terms and policy deviations.

• Assist with commercial handovers for awarded contracts.

• Drive continuous improvement and innovative working methods.

• Ensure that commercial policies are comprehended and properly implemented.

• Provide contract governance and assurance, recommending corrective actions when necessary.

• Manage and develop members of the assigned Contracts team.

• Contribute contract input to TGP processes, tenders, and proposals.

• Develop contract flowdown requirements for purchase orders and subcontracts within the supply chain.

• Assist in pursuing Wood’s claims and defending claims against Wood.

• Represent Wood in industry-wide contract initiatives, seminars, and workgroups.


⛳️ Requirements

• A degree in Law, Quantity Surveying, or Business is required.

• Demonstrated experience and a successful track record in contract review, drafting, and negotiation within a service company context.

• Industry experience showcasing understanding and exposure to essential contracting principles.

• Experience in negotiating and establishing JVs, MOUs, bidding agreements, and consortium agreements.

• Expert knowledge of contract terms and principles.

• Experience in drafting and implementing contracting policies.

• Familiarity with Company Finance and HR systems.

• Awareness of pertinent corporate and project procedures.

• Excellent grasp of client contract structures, principles, and policies.

• Contract experience in engineering and construction projects in at least one of the following sectors: life sciences, mining, power, infrastructure, environmental, or oil and gas.

• Experience with EPC, EPCm, or standard contract model forms such as NEC, FIDIC, JCT, LOGIC, or regional equivalents.

• Relevant client-facing contracting experience.

• Line management experience.

• Strong negotiation abilities.

• Leadership and team management skills.

• Strategic mindset with a focus on operational improvement.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong planning, organization, and prioritization capabilities.

• Client-focused relationship-building skills.

• Mentoring and coaching skills.

• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage competing priorities.

• Legal qualification is preferred but not mandatory.
