This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Oversee the management of contracts for large hydroelectric projects from the bidding phase through execution, close-out, and warranty.
• Create and execute contractual strategies tailored to specific projects.
• Handle commercial and contractual risks, opportunities, notices, changes, claims, disputes, and matters related to insurance.
• Draft, review, and customize commercial and contractual provisions.
• Negotiate and conclude contracts, amendments, change orders, and other commercial arrangements.
• Prepare contractual notices, amendments, change submissions, claims, and official communications.
• Provide guidance to project leadership and cross-functional teams regarding contractual rights, responsibilities, obligations, and risks.
• Develop and sustain contract management plans and tools to track obligations, milestones, notices, changes, and claims.
• Coordinate significant claims and disputes with Project Leadership, Legal, Finance, and other departments.
• Monitor compliance with contracts, document any deviations, and maintain records and traceability of decisions.
• Engage in project risk and opportunity assessments and assist in mitigation and opportunity-capture strategies.
• Cultivate relationships with customers, partners, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Mentor and provide support to junior contract management professionals.
• Report on contractual risk evaluations and updates as part of project governance processes.
• A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction, Quantity Surveying, Business, Finance, Law, or a related technical or commercial field.
• At least eight years of experience in contract management within complex project environments such as EPC, construction, infrastructure, energy, power generation, or major industrial sectors.
• Proven knowledge of the Canadian energy or infrastructure sector.
• Experience collaborating with public utilities, public-sector entities, or sophisticated infrastructure clients.
• Capability to compile, structure, draft, and manage intricate, high-value amendments, changes, claims, and contractual submissions.
• Strong grasp of project financial aspects, including costs, margins, risks, opportunities, and cash impacts.
• Proficient in analyzing, structuring, and resolving complex contractual and commercial issues.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
• Proactive approach, strong sense of ownership, and readiness to recommend and implement enhancements.
• Strong proficiency in written and spoken English.
• Willingness and ability to travel approximately 15–25% of the time.
• Preferred experience with turnkey EPC projects or other intricate project delivery models.
• Preferred background in hydropower, power generation, major infrastructure, construction, or complex industrial project settings.
• Preferred experience in managing major equipment supply, installation, consortium, or subcontracting arrangements.
• Preferred experience in handling significant changes, claims, insurance issues, or disputes.
• Preferred experience within a complex global or matrixed organization.
• Preferred experience mentoring or guiding less-experienced contract management professionals.
