This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Oversee contractual management for major hydroelectric projects from bidding and negotiation through execution, close-out, and warranty.
• Formulate and execute project-specific contractual strategies that align with objectives, risks, obligations, and opportunities.
• Draft, review, and customize commercial and contractual clauses.
• Engage in the negotiation and finalization of contracts, amendments, change orders, and other commercial arrangements.
• Prepare contractual notices, amendments, change submissions, claims, and formal communications.
• Ensure that project teams comprehend and apply contractual rights, responsibilities, and obligations.
• Collaborate with Project Directors and cross-functional teams on mitigation strategies and opportunity plans.
• Analyze contracts to pinpoint risks, opportunities, deviations, assumptions, and areas that require ongoing attention.
• Develop and uphold contract management plans.
• Drive strategies for changes, claims, dispute avoidance, and dispute resolution.
• Oversee contractual notices, changes, claims, disputes, and insurance-related matters.
• Coordinate major claims and disputes with Project Leadership, Legal, Finance, and other departments.
• Provide counsel to project teams regarding contractual issues and commercial decision-making.
• Monitor contractual commitments and disseminate contractual information across project organizations.
• Engage in project risk and opportunity assessments.
• Supervise contractual compliance and document deviations.
• Maintain tools and records for obligations, milestones, notices, changes, claims, correspondence, and decisions.
• Deliver regular contractual risk assessments and updates to project and functional leadership.
• Act as a senior contractual advisor and offer guidance to less-experienced contract management professionals.
• Support hydroelectric projects primarily in British Columbia and potentially in other areas of Western Canada.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction, Quantity Surveying, Business, Finance, Law, or a related technical or commercial field.
• A minimum of eight years of proven contract management experience in complex project environments such as EPC, construction, infrastructure, energy, power generation, or other major industrial sectors.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the Canadian energy or infrastructure sector.
• Experience collaborating with public utilities, public-sector organizations, or other sophisticated infrastructure clients.
• Proficient in compiling, structuring, drafting, and managing complex, high-value amendments, changes, claims, and contractual submissions.
• Strong grasp of project financial considerations, including costs, margins, risks, opportunities, and cash impact.
• Capacity to analyze, structure, and resolve complex contractual and commercial challenges.
• Exceptional communication, collaboration, negotiation, and stakeholder-management abilities.
• Proactive working style, strong sense of ownership, and readiness to suggest and implement enhancements.
• Strong written and spoken English proficiency.
• Willingness and ability to travel approximately 15–25%.
• Significant experience managing turnkey EPC projects or other intricate project delivery frameworks.
• Background in hydropower, power generation, major infrastructure, construction, or complex industrial project settings.
• Experience in administering major equipment supply, installation, consortium, or subcontracting agreements.
• Sound judgment regarding contractual and commercial risk.
• Experience managing considerable changes, claims, insurance matters, or disputes.
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a dynamic project environment.
• Experience working within a complex global or matrixed organization.
• Ability to clearly communicate contractual risk, commercial exposure, and recommended strategies to senior project and business leaders.
• Capacity to influence teams and stakeholders without direct reporting authority.
• Experience mentoring or providing guidance to less-experienced contract management professionals.
