This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Foster Ryder’s Continuous Improvement culture throughout the organization.
• Utilize continuous improvement methodologies to enhance operational efficiency.
• Recognize and implement operational changes through data-driven continuous improvement, engineering, and automation initiatives.
• Enhance safety, quality, delivery, cost-effectiveness, and employee development performance.
• Gather data and conduct statistical analyses.
• Map and document operational processes.
• Identify process deficiencies and propose as well as execute process enhancements.
• Create and implement continuous improvement transformation plans.
• Oversee and finalize continuous improvement and steady-state engineering projects.
• Evaluate continuous improvement initiatives and suggest future actions.
• Assist with automation projects.
• Engage regularly with operations management and employees at all levels and functions.
• Employ engineering methodologies, Lean tools, and quality standards.
• Utilize slotting, time studies, layouts, flow optimization, data profiling and analysis, and resource modeling to enhance distribution and transportation operations.
• Facilitate and implement Value Stream Maps and Kaizen Events, including A3 charter development, pre-work, results presentation, and sustainment follow-up.
• Provide ongoing reports on data and actions in relation to site objectives.
• Recommend strategies for inventory and supply chain management.
• Maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with company and industry standards.
• Establish and oversee a standardized corrective action system.
• Support compliance with regulatory and certification requirements.
• Execute Quality Assurance tasks for new start-ups or expansions.
• Perform other assigned duties.
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain, accompanied by three (3) years or more of relevant work experience in Warehousing, Transportation, or Manufacturing; or a Master’s degree with one (1) year of related experience.
• An undergraduate degree in Engineering is mandatory if holding an MBA.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio — Advanced level required.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools like PowerBI and Tableau, and database programming such as SQL and DAX — Intermediate level preferred.
• Basic understanding of Lean/TPS core tools and processes, including 5S, Standard Work, Visual Management, and problem-solving — Required at a beginner level.
• Comprehension and experience in core engineering and data analysis functions, such as slotting, utilization, labor planning, layouts, and metrics — Required at a beginner level.
• Acquainted with warehouse design tools like CAD/AutoCAD, slotting tools like Slot3D, predetermined motion and time systems such as MOST, warehouse management systems like Manhattan SCALE, and labor management systems — Preferred at a beginner level.
• Knowledge of warehouse management operations, data analytics, industrial engineering, warehouse types, layout/design, and Lean methodologies.
• Understanding of material handling solutions and automation, including powered industrial truck applications, racking and storage solutions, packaging equipment, conveyor and sortation equipment, and AS/RS — Intermediate level preferred.
• Familiarity with Dedicated Services and Managed Transportation Networks.
• Knowledge of various equipment types, including dry van, temperature control, flat bed, and specialized equipment.
• Acquainted with transportation design tools such as JDA and Appian, network design tools like Llamasoft, transportation management systems like JDA and OTM, and mapping software like Tableau — Preferred at an intermediate level.
• Lean Six Sigma, cPMP, ISO/QMS, and APICS and/or Supply Chain Logistics Certification — Preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Capability to establish and maintain professional relationships across organizational levels.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Adaptability and self-direction in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient multitasking with outstanding organizational and time management skills.
• Competent in managing continuous improvement projects from inception to sustained outcomes.
• Skills in implementing change.
