Content Writer – Contextual Content

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with the Editor and Program Manager to refine and finalize writing assignments.

• Perform thorough historical research to underpin assignments.

• Create record descriptions, personalized narratives based on historical documents, and blog articles.

• Ensure that assignments adhere to style guidelines, departmental objectives and values, quality and tone standards, while demonstrating awareness of the target audience.

• Support facts and information with comprehensive research.

• Meet submission deadlines for writing assignments.

• Provide updates and reports to the Editor and Program Manager as required.

• Report to the Program Manager of Content Strategy and collaborate closely with both the Program Manager and Editor.

⛳️ Requirements

• A degree in history, English, journalism, or a related field is preferred; or equivalent professional writing experience.

• Proven experience in writing about historical events.

• Experience in addressing sensitive topics through writing.

• Familiarity with African American, Latin American, Native American, Asian American, American, British, French, European, or Australian studies.

• Exceptional writing and editing capabilities.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to interpret and apply guidelines and standards effectively.

• Capability to follow a style guide and maintain the appropriate tone.

• Proficient internet and research skills.

• High attention to detail and accuracy.

• Self-motivated individual.

• Experience in family history is a plus.
