Content Strategist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the content strategy and information architecture throughout the entire content lifecycle, encompassing planning, development, management, governance, and publishing.

• Create and sustain user personas, user stories, and journey maps targeting key audience segments.

• Analyze content requirements, identify gaps, and pinpoint opportunities to guide strategic direction.

• Construct and uphold content taxonomies, metadata schemas, and models of information architecture.

• Establish standards for content structure and organization, including page templates, content types, and conventions for metadata tagging.

• Collaborate with SEO teams on structural components that enhance discoverability.

• Evaluate CMS content for clarity, accessibility, usability, and findability.

• Suggest enhancements to structure, navigation, or governance based on data and user requirements.

• Formulate and document information architecture standards and permissions frameworks.

• Maintain consistency in content structure and metadata across various distribution channels and rendering formats.

• Design and engage in usability testing, which includes card sorting, tree testing, and navigation tasks.

• Convert usability insights into structural recommendations.

• Collaborate with SEO and digital strategy teams on decisions regarding taxonomy and site structure.

• Aid in the development of journey maps linked to audience milestones or events.

• Share findings and recommendations related to content structure for lifecycle and performance reporting.

• Stay informed about Section 508 and WCAG accessibility standards.

• Perform other relevant duties as per qualifications or training.

⛳️ Requirements

• An active Secret Clearance is required.

• A Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Information Science, Technical Communication, or UX Writing.

• At least 6 years of experience in content strategy, information architecture, or UX-focused content roles.

• Ideally, experience within a large public-facing website or application setting.

• Proven experience in building taxonomies, sitemaps, content models, and/or metadata frameworks.

• Experience in developing personas, journey maps, and other artifacts informed by user research.

• Familiarity with usability testing techniques, including card sorting, tree testing, and moderated user testing.

• Working knowledge of content management systems and accessibility guidelines (Section 508/WCAG).

• Legally authorized to work in the U.S.

• Preferred: experience supporting a DoD, federal, or other large-scale government-facing digital initiative.

• Preferred: familiarity with tools like Optimal Workshop, Figma, or similar IA/UX research applications.

• Preferred: background in editorial or content operations in addition to information architecture.
