This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia.
• Oversee the daily publishing, optimization, and management of content across the national communications channels of the American Red Cross.
• Enhance and publish news articles and press releases on redcross.org, ensuring proper metadata, URLs, and alternative text are included.
• Implement the redcross.org editorial strategy in collaboration with editorial leads, authors, and analysts.
• Boost content visibility through search engines, AI-driven discovery, and various referral sources.
• Optimize, publish, organize, and share photography and video assets across different channels and Digital Asset Management (DAM) systems.
• Assist in asset organization, including metadata, tagging, rights information, and practices for discoverability.
• Provide operational and surge support to the national photography team during disasters and periods of high activity.
• Facilitate content sharing among teams and channels during national disaster operations.
• Discover opportunities for repurposing and distributing stories, visuals, and other assets.
• Develop content workflows, documentation, and processes.
• Aid in planning and pre-production for national photography shoots and coordinate logistics for the shoots.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a closely related field.
• A minimum of five years' experience in content management, digital publishing, editorial operations, or a similar area.
• Proficient in publishing and managing content using a website content management system (CMS) and/or digital asset management (DAM) system.
• Skilled in optimizing digital content for various audiences and channels, including SEO, accessibility, and AI-driven search and discoverability.
• Strong organizational and project management abilities.
• Capable of coordinating multiple content streams, deadlines, and stakeholders.
• Proficient in building, documenting, and managing clear workflows while improving processes.
• Comfortable learning and operating across various content management systems, digital platforms, and project management tools.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a keen attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
• Ability to work collaboratively with editorial, photo, video, social media, and other communications teams.
• Must possess authorization to work in the United States; employment visa sponsorship is not available.
• Proficiency in Spanish is preferred.
• Experience in photography, videography, and/or editorial writing production is highly preferred.
• Preferred experience in staff or volunteer management.
