Consulting Utility Forester

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.

📋 Description

• Identify and assess local trees while understanding their growth rates.

• Create maps of circuits utilizing client continuity lists.

• Patrol and examine distribution and/or transmission circuits, along with prescribed tasks for client tree trimming contractors.

• Input tree trimming/tree and brush removal prescriptions into handheld devices or comparable systems.

• Inform property owners about tree trimming/tree and brush removal activities.

• Oversee work issuance and monitor the progress of tasks.

• Conduct outage investigations as needed.

• Address and negotiate access issues for line-clearance crews.

• Carry out herbicide audits.

• Assist in storm restoration operations.

• Audit tree trimming and removal work in the field to ensure compliance with work request forms and approved standards.

• Assess when the next tree trimming session is needed.

• Complete post-audit documentation and send it to the vegetation management program manager or coordinator.

• Secure permits from public agencies and document the work performed.

• Adhere to regulatory requirements and client vegetation management protocols.

• Fulfill emergency-response duties as directed by the Senior CUF or Manager.

• Act as a liaison among clients, tree crews, and client customers.

• Cultivate relationships with local client personnel and relevant governmental entities.

• Engage in public presentations and meetings as necessary.

• Work with a focus on safety and utilize required safety equipment.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Forestry, Horticulture, or a related field.

• Preferably two years of relevant utility experience.

• Must be at least 21 years of age.

• Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving history.

• Capability to learn and utilize company-specific or job-specific software systems.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite [Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook] or equivalent software.

• Ability to identify local trees and understand their growth rates.

• Capacity to work in rugged terrain and adverse weather conditions.

• Ability to read and interpret maps.

• Competence in driving and operating a 4x4 vehicle.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Ability to handle multiple tasks and work both independently and collaboratively.

• Proven critical thinking skills and the ability to make sound business decisions.

• Employee must obtain an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certification as an Arborist within thirty (30) months of being assigned as a CUF.

• All employees must complete an online safe driver course and safety training.

• Drug and alcohol testing is mandatory.
