Construction Project Manager, Commercial

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Supervise commercial construction projects from inception to completion throughout North Carolina.

• Develop and uphold project schedules, budgets, scopes, subcontractor timelines, procurement strategies, and milestone tracking.

• Coordinate efforts among subcontractors, field teams, vendors, inspectors, architects, engineers, and internal stakeholders to ensure project progression.

• Assess drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, proposals, change orders, and project documentation for precision and readiness for execution.

• Monitor project expenses, authorize invoices, handle change orders, and detect budget or scope risks before they affect project outcomes.

• Conduct regular project meetings with field teams, subcontractors, clients, and leadership to address issues and uphold accountability.

• Oversee quality, safety, scheduling, permitting, inspections, and code compliance across designated commercial job sites.

• Assist with procurement, material coordination, tracking long-lead items, and vendor communication to avert project delays.

• Keep comprehensive project records, status updates, punch lists, closeout documentation, and reports for owners.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of project management experience in commercial construction, specifically with direct oversight of ground-up or new build projects.

• Proven experience managing commercial construction projects within North Carolina or comparable regional markets.

• Strong grasp of commercial construction schedules, budgets, subcontractor scopes, drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, permitting, inspections, and closeout processes.

• Experience collaborating with subcontractors, superintendents, vendors, inspectors, architects, engineers, owners, and client-facing project stakeholders.

• Proficient in construction project management tools, scheduling software, spreadsheets, and digital documentation platforms.

• Capability to oversee multiple active projects while ensuring robust communication, accountability, and visibility in the field.

• Must possess direct project ownership experience, not merely assistant project management or project coordination experience.

• Experience in ground-up commercial construction is essential; candidates with solely residential, renovation, civil, or service work experience may not be the ideal fit.
