Construction Project Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Acts as the main point of contact for all project-related matters, both internally and externally, ensuring continuity and leadership throughout the project's duration.

• Oversees multiple projects simultaneously.

• Requires effective collaboration and coordination with other project team members, internal departments, and external stakeholders.

• Collaborates with the Director of Construction to maintain, monitor, and track project-related information and events, including budget tracking and scheduling reports submitted to management monthly.

• Formulates recommendations to meet financial, marketing, and merchandising goals for projects while occasionally developing and managing project scopes and budgets.

• Keeps abreast of company standards and criteria, performing intermediate and final plan reviews to ensure design integrity and compliance.

• Manages and is responsible for the project's budget until completion.

• Ensures that assigned projects are completed in accordance with the company’s standards for criteria, timing, cost, and quality.

• Requests proposals for change orders and services related to assigned projects and negotiates with vendors to secure the best value for the company.

• Conducts regular field inspections on assigned projects, ensuring contractor compliance with contract documents and taking necessary corrective actions to meet objectives.

• Reviews and approves contractors' payment applications as authorized by management on approved contracts and purchase orders.

• Initiates contractor schedules and coordinates them with internal stakeholders to facilitate fixture setup activities, ensuring timely store occupancy, equipment delivery and installation, utility connections, refrigeration startup, receipt of all necessary occupancy licenses, and collaboration with store operations to receive merchandise.

• Provides design and construction expertise to operations and departments in response to inquiries regarding maintenance and repair.

• Submits project-related expenditures to the Director of Construction for approval, processes change orders for contracted work, and monitors ongoing costs to ensure compliance with approved budgets.

• Initiates and coordinates the project close-out process, ensuring that all permits are closed, final inspections are completed, and the contractor submits their close-out package in accordance with contractual requirements.

• Responsible for ensuring effective coordination among internal stakeholders, team members, and external parties, such as developers, design consultants, and governmental agencies, to maintain open communication and achieve desired project outcomes.

• Continuously evaluates best practices and standards, providing new ideas, input, and recommendations for criteria and process improvements.

• Establishes and maintains formal and informal channels of upward communication, encouraging the expression of new ideas, suggestions, and feedback from both internal and external sources. Reviews suggestions for relevance and makes recommendations for further action.

• Responsible for creating and maintaining project schedules, with accountability for meeting all scheduled deadlines.

⛳️ Requirements

• An associate degree (AS/AAS/AA) or vocational certificate in construction management/engineering, architecture, or equivalent education and/or experience.

• 1 to 3 years of experience in design, fixturing, and construction of retail facilities.

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

• Capability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

• Proficiency in effectively presenting information and responding to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.

• Ability to work with mathematical concepts, including probability, statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.

• Proficient in applying concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
