This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Oversee all elements of the project lifecycle for various construction projects within the Canadian portfolio.
• Aid in the negotiation and issuance of primary contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
• Conduct project contract administration in compliance with Company policies and procedures.
• Track project expenses through change order and contract adjustment protocols.
• Assist in formulating recovery strategies when project timelines or budgets are jeopardized.
• Review and revise schedules, cost forecasts, and cash flow requirements with the Construction Team biweekly and with the CIO monthly or as scheduled.
• Prepare and process general contractor progress draws, subcontractor payment applications, as well as consultant and supplier invoices.
• Collaborate with the Accounting department on coding, progress draw payments, and recoverable costs.
• Coordinate drawing management, scheduling, costs, and project execution.
• Build and maintain relationships with general contractors, architects, engineers, and other construction vendors.
• Resolve disputes related to projects.
• Complete project closeout documentation and follow up on any deficiencies.
• Direct the activities of the construction administrative assistant.
• Coordinate efforts with building officials and regulatory agencies.
• Travel frequently to construction and project sites across Canada to monitor progress, quality, and compliance while performing essential administrative duties remotely.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management is required.
• A minimum of five years of direct experience is necessary.
• Experience with companies that have multiple site locations is essential; experience in Self-Storage is a plus.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
• Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
• Excellent time management skills with a proven track record of meeting deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
• Comprehensive understanding of construction methods and technology.
• Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks while analyzing and resolving issues.
• In-depth knowledge of construction methods and technology, along with the application of building codes.
• Capability to work efficiently in a remote/home-office setting while frequently traveling to project sites across Canada.
• A valid driver's license and passport are required.
