This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Oversee all phases of the project lifecycle for diverse construction projects within the Canadian portfolio.
• Aid in negotiating and issuing primary contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
• Conduct project contract administration in line with Company policies and procedures.
• Track project expenditures through change order and contract adjustment processes.
• Support in formulating recovery strategies when project schedules or budgets are at risk.
• Review and update schedules, cost forecasts, and cash flow needs with the Construction Team biweekly and with the CIO monthly or as needed.
• Prepare and process progress draws from general contractors, subcontractor payment applications, and invoices from consultants and suppliers.
• Collaborate with Accounting to ensure accurate coding, payment of progress draws, and recoverable costs.
• Manage drawing coordination, scheduling, and costs to the satisfaction of management.
• Build professional relationships with general contractors, architects, and engineers.
• Address project disputes promptly.
• Complete project closeout documentation for archiving or transition to Operations.
• Follow up on outstanding deficiencies.
• Direct the activities of the construction administrative assistant.
• Coordinate with building officials and regulatory bodies.
• Travel regularly to construction and project sites throughout the Canadian portfolio to monitor progress, quality, and compliance while performing essential administrative tasks remotely.
• Execute general administrative duties and other assigned responsibilities.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management is mandatory.
• At least five years of direct experience is required.
• Experience with companies operating multiple sites is a MUST; experience in Self-Storage is a plus.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
• Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent time management skills with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
• Comprehensive understanding of construction and technology methods.
• Ability to efficiently multitask while analyzing and resolving issues.
• In-depth knowledge of construction and technology methods as well as building code applications.
• Capability to work effectively in a remote/home-office setting while managing frequent travel to project sites across Canada.
• A valid driver's license and passport are required.
