Construction Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Oversee all phases of the project lifecycle for various construction projects within the Canadian portfolio.

• Aid in the negotiation and issuance of prime contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders.

• Conduct project contract administration in line with Company policies and procedures.

• Track project expenditures through change order and contract modification processes.

• Support the development of recovery plans when project schedules or financials are at risk.

• Review and update schedules, cost forecasts, and cash flow requirements with the Construction Team biweekly and with the CIO monthly or as needed.

• Prepare and process general contractor progress draws, subcontractor payment applications, and invoices from consultants and suppliers.

• Collaborate with Accounting to ensure accurate coding, payment of progress draws, and recoverable costs.

• Coordinate drawing management, scheduling, and costs to meet management's expectations.

• Build strong relationships with construction vendors, general contractors, architects, and engineers.

• Resolve project disputes promptly.

• Complete project closeout documentation for archiving or transfer to Operations.

• Follow up on any deficiencies.

• Supervise the activities of the construction administrative assistant.

• Coordinate with building officials and regulatory agencies.

• Travel frequently to construction and project sites across the Canadian portfolio to monitor progress, quality, and compliance while performing core administrative tasks remotely.

• Undertake general administrative duties and any other assigned responsibilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management is mandatory.

• At least five years of direct experience is required.

• Experience with companies that operate multi-site locations is essential; experience in Self-Storage is a plus.

• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

• Excellent organizational abilities and a keen attention to detail.

• Strong time management skills with a proven track record of meeting deadlines.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

• Comprehensive understanding of construction and technology methodologies.

• Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks while analyzing and resolving issues.

• In-depth knowledge of construction and technology methods along with the application of building codes.

• Capable of working efficiently in a remote/home-office setting while frequently traveling to project sites across Canada.

• A valid driver's license and passport are required.
