This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Collaborate with utility providers, municipalities, engineers, developers, and permitting entities.
• Oversee make-ready and right-of-way operations.
• Assist in network design, materials planning, and the development of capital projects.
• Ensure prompt responses to sales-related construction quotations.
• Monitor construction progress and resolve issues with project leadership.
• Process claims for damages.
• Analyze project-related data.
• Provide training and support to construction leads while managing several complex projects.
• Supervise and assess construction personnel.
• Coordinate construction activities using both in-house and contract labor for new builds and rebuilding projects, both aerial and underground.
• Represent Wave in communications with governmental, municipal, and relevant industry organizations.
• Coordinate construction work by utility companies in the right of way, including pole transfers, system maintenance, pole inspections, plant relocations, and extensions.
• Collaborate with engineers and developers in designing the plant.
• Work with staff to design, draw, and sketch installation and equipment locations for nodes, amplifiers, power supplies, and cables.
• Complete material orders for scheduled construction.
• Monitor contractor performance and compliance with agreements, local and state construction regulations, and codes.
• Conduct site inspections for quality assurance and safety.
• Coordinate the permitting and make-ready processes.
• Ensure that staff responds to residential and small business sales-team quotes within strict deadlines.
• Communicate concerns regarding construction progress to the Project Manager or designated supervisor.
• Review and process damage claims.
• Collaborate with staff to develop capital projects and purchase requests for the construction team.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• 5 years of technical experience in Cable Television or Telecommunications.
• 7-10 years of experience working in or supervising a cable TV/telecommunications construction department.
• Adequate vision abilities, including close vision, peripheral vision, and the capacity to adjust focus.
• Knowledge of National Electrical Codes and G.O.95 and 128.
• A valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
• Strong prioritization and organizational skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly and directly, both orally and in writing.
• Capability to supervise and inspire others.
• Proficient in using personal computers and software applications (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, etc.).
• Ability to manage and complete multiple projects of increasing complexity, size, budget value, and duration.
• Advanced knowledge of proper safety construction practices.
• Advanced understanding of fiber route planning and engineering for building entry and network expansion projects.
• Advanced comprehension of the permitting process for railroads, DOT, cities, counties, and pole owners.
• Advanced knowledge of fiber splicing and installation techniques.
• Advanced understanding of network topology.
• Advanced knowledge of fiber optic principles and methodologies.
• Advanced understanding of GIS.
• Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with municipalities, government agencies, property management, vendors, and others.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office are required.
• Ability to track and analyze data against project forecasts.
• Strong critical thinking, attention to detail, and time management skills are essential.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Ability to operate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment without supervision.
• Capacity to provide training and support for Construction Lead I-II.
• Must reside within 30 miles or have a maximum 1-hour commute during regular commuting hours from the designated territory.
• A valid driver’s license and auto insurance with a satisfactory driving record are necessary.
• Must be able to operate standard office equipment, including personal computers, telephones, copiers, facsimile machines, and calculators.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
