This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.
• Collaborate with utilities, municipalities, engineers, developers, and permitting authorities.
• Oversee make-ready and right-of-way operations.
• Assist in network design, materials planning, and the development of capital projects.
• Ensure prompt responses to construction quotes related to sales.
• Monitor construction progress and resolve issues alongside project leadership.
• Manage the processing of damage claims.
• Evaluate project data.
• Offer training and guidance to construction leads while juggling multiple complex projects.
• Supervise and assess construction personnel.
• Coordinate construction activities through both in-house and contract labor for new builds and rebuilds, whether aerial or underground.
• Represent Wave in discussions with governmental, municipal, and related industry organizations.
• Facilitate utility company work within the right of way, including tasks such as pole transfers, system maintenance, pole inspections, and plant relocations and extensions.
• Collaborate with engineers and developers in the design of the infrastructure.
• Work with staff on designing, drawing, and sketching equipment installations and placements.
• Complete material orders for upcoming construction projects.
• Monitor contractor performance to ensure adherence to agreements, requirements, and codes.
• Conduct site inspections to ensure quality control and safety measures are upheld.
• Oversee the permitting and make-ready procedures.
• Ensure that staff adheres to deadlines for responding to sales quotes from residential and small business clients.
• Relay construction progress concerns to the Project Manager or assigned supervisor.
• Review and manage damage claims.
• Collaborate with staff on capital projects and procurement requests for the construction team.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• 5 years of technical experience in Cable Television or Telecommunications.
• 7-10 years of experience in supervising or working within a cable TV/telecommunications construction department.
• Capable of close vision, peripheral vision, and adjusting focus.
• Familiarity with National Electrical Codes and G.O.95 and 128.
• Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Proven ability to prioritize and organize tasks effectively.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, conveying information clearly and directly.
• Competence in supervising and motivating team members.
• Proficient in using personal computers and software applications (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets).
• Ability to manage and complete multiple projects simultaneously.
• Advanced knowledge of safety construction practices.
• In-depth understanding of fiber route planning and engineering for building entry and network expansion projects.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the permitting process for railroads, DOT, cities, counties, and pole owners.
• Expertise in fiber splicing and installation practices.
• Thorough understanding of network topology.
• Advanced knowledge of fiber optic principles and methodologies.
• Strong grasp of GIS.
• Ability to cultivate effective relationships with municipalities, government agencies, property management, vendors, etc.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Skilled in tracking and analyzing data against project forecasts.
• Strong critical thinking, attention to detail, and time management abilities are essential.
• Excellent written and verbal communication capabilities are required.
• Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment without direct supervision.
• Ability to provide training and support for Construction Leads I-II.
• Must reside within 30 miles or have a maximum one-hour commute during regular commuting hours from the assigned territory.
• Valid driver's license and auto insurance with a satisfactory driving record.
• Must be able to operate standard office equipment, including personal computers, telephones, copiers, fax machines, and calculators.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
