Construction Accountant, Job Cost Experience

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Process and code invoices from construction-related vendors, subcontractor payments, and change orders within the general ledger.

• Regularly reconcile job cost and project accounting sub-ledgers with the general ledger.

• Prepare and post journal entries, which include accruals, reclassifications, and project closeouts.

• Collaborate with Project Managers to secure necessary documentation for invoices, lien waivers, and certified payroll.

• Maintain and oversee construction budgets, monitor commitments, and report any variances.

• Assist with month-end closing activities.

• Aid in the preparation of project-level and consolidated reports.

• Support accounts payable functions, vendor setup, and 1099 preparation pertaining to construction vendors.

• Contribute to enhancing and documenting accounting processes, internal controls, and systems related to job cost tracking.

• Engage with teams operating in US Pacific Standard Time, primarily aligned with Seattle, Washington, ensuring significant time-zone overlap.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, demonstrating expertise in construction or project-based accounting.

• Strong understanding of job cost accounting concepts, including WIP, retainage, commitments, change orders, and project closeouts.

• Familiarity with accounting software such as AppFolio, QuickBooks, or Sage 100/300.

• Advanced spreadsheet skills.

• Capability to work remotely while possessing strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Proficiency in managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.

• Skill in analyzing variances, identifying issues, and suggesting corrective actions.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience is preferred.

• Candidates must reside in the Philippines.
