Congregational Justice Organizer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Guide congregations and UU leaders in developing spiritually grounded and effective organizing strategies.

• Create training programs, toolkits, and resources to enhance congregational organizing capabilities.

• Monitor participation rates, outcomes, and engagement levels within congregations.

• Provide reports on the strengths and opportunities of congregational and State Action Network organizing.

• Act as the main liaison between OST and the regional staff of Congregational Life.

• Organize congregational involvement in campaigns, mobilizations, and cohort-based learning experiences.

• Design and co-facilitate leadership development initiatives.

• Foster and strengthen relationships with faith-based and secular coalitions at local, state, and national levels.

• Represent the UUA and Side With Love within interfaith and movement coalitions.

• Monitor UUA congregational initiatives to guide strategic collaborations.

• Provide consultation on cross-team congregational projects.

• Oversee the OST congregational awards and recognition process.

• Offer guidance to the OST Communications team on projects focused on congregations.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in community organizing, campaign leadership, or faith-based movement development.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in a congregational environment or faith-based organization.

• At least 2 years of experience in curriculum, workshop, and/or program development.

• Familiarity with CRM systems like EveryAction, VAN, or Action Network.

• Proven experience in managing budgets and financial processes.

• Background in coalition building and partnership management across faith, racial justice, or civic engagement sectors.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in public speaking.

• Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities with a sharp attention to detail.

• Proficiency in Google Workspace, Asana or similar project management tools, and databases.

• Capability to work collaboratively and independently in a remote setting.

• Commitment to the values and mission of the Unitarian Universalist Association and Side With Love, including principles of equity, inclusion, and justice.

• Must have easy access to a major airport due to 30% travel requirements.
