Conflicts Attorney

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Support the identification, resolution, and clearance of conflicts of interest for new Firm representations or lateral hires.

• Assist in the clearance of conflicts related to new business ventures, attorney and staff recruitment, as well as law firm mergers and acquisitions.

• Provide samples of waivers and engagement letters, and aid in their drafting process.

• Examine client waiver and engagement letters to ensure all necessary conditions are satisfied.

• Evaluate new matter requests for adherence to Firm policies and professional responsibility standards.

• Review and amend draft engagement letters to ensure compliance.

• Analyze client outside counsel guidelines and determine the Firm's capacity to comply with them.

• Keep track of trends in conflicts-of-interest management and pinpoint areas for process enhancement.

• Collaborate with Intake Services managers and supervisors to establish best practices and quality assurance measures.

• Create and execute conflicts training programs for newly onboarded staff.

• Organize workflow and personnel operations to maximize efficiency, accuracy, and timely delivery.

• Enhance processes and introduce automation in conflicts analysis.

• Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited institution.

• Active membership in a state bar where the Firm operates a physical office.

• At least 5 years of legal experience in a mid-sized to large law firm.

• In-depth understanding of the ethical, legal, and risk management regulations governing conflicts of interest and their resolution.

• Familiarity with compliance issues and guidelines pertinent to international law firms.

• Capability to initiate, manage, and complete time-sensitive projects with minimal oversight.

• Ability to deliver high-quality work and operate effectively under significant deadline constraints.

• Skill in working with personnel at all levels with tact and diplomacy.

• Strong interpersonal communication skills to foster effective relationships with partners, attorneys, and staff.

• Demonstrated leadership abilities and capacity to provide guidance.

• Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.

• Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

• Independent judgment and decision-making capability.

• Proficiency in computer skills.

• Experience with automated conflict check software.

• Familiarity with InTapp Open software is preferred.

• Extensive experience in conflict of interest law and/or professional responsibility is preferred.
