Compliance & Risk Lead – Maternity Cover

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Report directly to the VP of Compliance.

• Lead Paddle’s compliance team while working collaboratively with legal, product, operational, and other teams.

• Recruit, onboard, and supervise compliance professionals.

• Create and enhance compliance policies and procedures in line with global card scheme regulations, consumer protection laws, and payment regulations.

• Design and manage technology-driven compliance monitoring programs.

• Utilize data-driven tools to proactively identify trends and potential risks.

• Provide precise, timely, and transparent compliance reporting to senior leadership, the Board, product teams, and external regulators.

• Develop and oversee Paddle’s enterprise risk management program.

• Identify risks, implement controls, and report on the effectiveness of those controls.

• Collaborate with the legal team to research evolving regulations in payments, consumer protection, and fintech.

• Provide guidance on regulatory impacts and incorporate findings into monitoring and reporting frameworks.

• Lead investigations into high-risk complaints and compliance violations.

• Coordinate incident resolution alongside legal and operational teams.

• Create comprehensive incident reports for internal review and regulatory submission as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• 6–8 years of experience in compliance.

• Ideally, experience in the payments sector and/or within rapidly growing businesses.

• Demonstrated ability to establish and manage scalable monitoring and reporting systems.

• Extensive knowledge of data protection, card scheme regulations, and payment legislation, including PSD2 and AML/KYC.

• Practical experience in fintech or SaaS environments.

• Background in a high-growth scale-up setting.

• Experience in constructing compliance frameworks that prioritize real-time monitoring and comprehensive reporting.

• Outstanding communication skills for presenting compliance data to engineers, regulators, and varied audiences.

• Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing competing priorities.
