This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa, +2 more countries.
β’ Serve as the primary escalation point for intricate KYB, KYC, and enhanced due diligence cases, prior to any matters reaching the Head of Compliance.
β’ Evaluate and perform quality assurance on analyst decisions β including risk ratings, evidence, and disposition notes β ensuring they are thorough and defensible.
β’ Establish and monitor team service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs): case aging, turnaround times, QA findings, and rework rates.
β’ Develop and uphold standard operating procedures (SOPs), escalation templates, and case documentation standards as the team evolves.
β’ Oversee sanctions, politically exposed persons (PEP), and adverse media escalations, which includes reviewing false positives and retaining evidence.
β’ Assist in transaction monitoring by identifying unusual payout patterns, rapid onboarding, or high-risk activities.
β’ Maintain the compliance evidence register and manage the issue/remediation tracker for audits and partner assessments.
β’ Collaborate with Customer Success and Operations to ensure that client-facing compliance requests are clear and commercially viable.
β’ Provide reports on compliance operations to the Head of Compliance and COO.
β’ A minimum of 5 years in compliance operations, AML/financial crime, sanctions, or payments compliance β preferably with experience at a licensed money transmitter, payment institution, bank, PSP, fintech, card/spend platform, marketplace, or other regulated financial services settings.
β’ Comfortable making decisions on ambiguous cases: incomplete documents, unclear business activities, or heightened payment partner risk.
β’ Capable of distinguishing between a documentation gap and actual risk, as well as identifying matters that should be escalated directly to the Head of Compliance.
β’ Excellent written communication skills: producing case notes, escalation summaries, and partner responses that withstand scrutiny.
β’ Arabic fluency is a significant advantage, but not mandatory.
β’ Experience in managing, mentoring, or performing quality assurance for analysts is a strong plus β though not required.
β’ CAMS or CFCS certification is an asset.
